Drilling & Completions Operations Manager

 

PURPOSE:

Overall service management and direction of field services operations within a region of the United States.  Responsible for leading all field service technicians, coordinators, supervisors, and managers to secure customer success, and error-free operations. Further, responsible for the portion of P&L as well as performance of key HSE requirements and environment programs, quality management, and administration at multiple field operations within the region.

 

Additional Operational tasks include, but are not limited to the following: distribution, gross profit, and inventory management, equipment demand management (S&OP), service performance, human resources, development and implementation of operational standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience.  MBA preferred

·         5 – 7 years of experience in leadership roles, preferably within energy sector (Surface field service operations)

·         Demonstrates a high degree of initiative, judgment and resourcefulness with the ability to find creative solutions to multi-faceted and/or time sensitive problems.

·         Demonstrates the ability to deal with numerous and changing priorities and to proactively address issues relating to personnel, capital, facilities, processes and profitability.

·         Solid business/financial acumen

·         Strong technical and customer knowledge (relevant to the service line)

·         Proven experience in managing relationships with internal/external business partners.

·         PC skills with knowledge of MS Office products and the ability to optimize the use of technology and systems to streamline processes and increase efficiency.

·         Must have functional understanding of performance metrics.

·         Must be customer focused with a strong commitment to Customer Success.

·         Understands operational commitments and impact on related area.

·         Strong leader, with demonstrated ability to plan, organize and execute

·         Exceptional organization skills with a high attention to detail in base operations, material planning, service management, and financial environments

·         Knowledge and experience with ISO 9002, EPA, and OSHA requirements

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

     Lead, direct and oversee all field operations in the region

     Markets the Service Department through frequent customer contact, both in an office environment and on field locations.  Participates in presentations and technical discussions when required.

     Ultimate responsibility on planning field installations ensuring that the proper tools, spares, backup equipment and personnel are available; helps Regional Planner with Inventory Management and logistics management.

     Assists in scheduling assignments of Service Technicians to ensure the best match of individual capabilities and competency to project requirements.  Assists with logistics (travel, parts, etc.)

     Coordinates the Well File Management Program and ensures that all service work is properly documented showing tasks carried out, procedures, equipment and parts used and any problems that occurred. 

     Ensures that all employees are trained and monitors field practices to ensure compliance with safety procedures.

     Oversees the Competence Management Process by maintaining records for skill assessments, documentation, testing and log book management.

     Maintain a competitor database for all services, including market share, service/product performance and cost/pricing position

     Lead, coach, train and mentor current and any future field managers

     Support, sustain and continue to improve FMC Technologies HSE performance objectives.

     Determine field-maintenance requirements and procedures and deploy QA resources to ensure conformance

     Responsible to assemble annual regional budget information.

     Prepares and submits for approval, running procedures and manuals on each piece of equipment.  Maintains and updates above

     Review regional financial statements and provide feedback.

     Work towards achieving all key financial objectives established within budget. 

     Facilitates and monitors key financial performance indicators to ensure profitability of field operations.

     Responsible for local management of assets tied to drilling and completion field operations.

     Improve asset utilization, and drive down operating costs tied to asset maintenance and optimize asset pool in line with business needs.  

     Ensures asset demand is justified, vetted, and translated into asset requisitions (AFE’s) in a timely manner to meet market needs .

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Describe general working conditions (i.e. noise level, temperature, around heavy machinery)  Spends 75% of time in a temperature controlled office environment.  Spends 25% of time in shop environment, customer office, or field location (outdoors) and may be exposed to possible hazards including high noise, heavy machinery, and shop traffic.  Travels based on requirements.  Travel could be up to 50%.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Describe amount & frequency of physical requirements of the position (i.e. lifting, pushing, climbing) Frequent sitting, operating computer, and leading and attending meetings.
