Head of Commercial

The Head of Commercial is key to delivering Genesis market expansion as this role is responsible for  identifying and developing opportunities within our existing client base and with new clients. Within the US Operating Centre the Head of Commercial will manage the business development, marketing, and tendering efforts and will work closely with the Head of Advisory and the Client Portfolio Delivery Managers in the Win-It phase to identify capturing & contracting strategy, the right delivery model and to support the marketing and tendering processes. This position will be responsible for generating order intakes for both service lines (Oil & Gas Services and Energy Transition & Diversified Services). The Head of Commercial will work with the Strategy team and with commercial team in other operating centres and business units  in Technip Energies to track and monitor market intel and business trends to identify opportunities.  

The Head of Commercial will work closely with and the  Project Services teams to ensure all relevant MSA pricing and grade mapping information is correct and provide support for collation of the Pricing Sheet on studies/projects.  

The role will also interact continuously with the Global Leads in ET & Diversified Services to ensure opportunities are being developed in our new service lines.

The Head of Commercial will be responsible for the handling of advisory phases’ enquiries from new Clients or for Clients which do not have a designated Portfolio Manager. This is a senior leadership position which shall have a majority of its time working externally to develop and secure new business.

Main accountabilities:

  1. Order intake and business development
    1. According to Genesis Americas strategy, develop annual business plan to include target markets, clients, and order intake target, etc. Identify pull through opportunties for Technip Energies.
    2. Proactively seek out new clients and opportunties in line with the business plan
    3. Closely monitor and gather intel in key market sectors, key clients, and competitors.  Adjust the annul buiness plan according based on market trend and intel.
    4. Supoort all marketing activities, including trade shows, exhinibts, advertisement, public speech, and presentation.
    5. Identify the right capture strategy and contracting strategy.
  2. Increase profitability:
    1. Identify the right delivery model to ensure profitability
    2. Be selective during prospects screeing and control tendering cost
    3. Review charge rates and implement improvements where possible for overall increase in project profitability in conjunction with Head of Advisory, US.
  3. Reporting and forecasting
    1. Record all Business Development and Intel reports in TWIST and contribute to its development for effective use within Genesis.
    2. Prepare reports and forecasts – in conjunction with strategy team.
    3. Input to monthly business reviews for the Houston Operating Centre.
    4. Provide inputs to monthly business reviews

Qualifications:

  • Experinece in the advisory business
  • Proven new Business Development experience including establishing new contacts
  • Excellent networking, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Exemplary and open communicator, quick to share and act
  • The ability to quickly build client relationships
  • Experience in promoting complex technical offerings
  • A strong background in commercial activities
  • Proactive, self-starter motivated towards achieving pre-agreed targets and objectives
