Reports to the Manager/Supervisor, in the Western Region Subsea Services Organizational Unit in Houston, Texas.




·         Owns the management technical documentation for assigned scope.

·         Interprets and applies relevant policies & procedures.

·         Receives objectives and guidelines for projects. Regularly assigned ownership of conceptual design.

·         Analyzes and interprets data independently. Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative action. Participates in the project planning and schedule process.

·         No direct reports, but often leads one or more professionals or technicians on a project basis.

·         Fosters commitment in the face of major obstacles.

·         Consults and establishes working relationships with local & other site groups.

·         Reviews the work of others for accuracy and soundness of judgment.

·         Shares opinions, ideas and resources with others to achieve common goals; fosters teamwork and collaboration, builds trust.

·         Interacts with others in order to support efforts related to technical documentation, product design review and presentations, technical planning, customer interface, project execution, product troubleshooting, product maintenance, repair and refurbishment.

·         Collaborates frequently with workshops and customer teams.



·         Manages the creation/update of engineering documentation and standard work instructions.

·         Participates in design reviews and consults with other departments on designs and field related applications.

·         Proactively participates in HSES initiatives.

·         Supports project quotes.

·         Leads product and task standardization projects.

·         Supports implementation of best practices/process improvements.

·         Prepares and presents technical data to internal and external customers.

·         Prepares, reviews and approves technical documentation related to engineering changes; ECN (Engineering Change Notices), part reports (Data Base Information) and engineering specification/requirements and ensures conformance to all policies and procedures related to engineering deliverables.

·         Reviews/approves clear technical instructions regarding refurbishment, maintenance and/or repair of equipment following quality requirements.

·         Provides technical support for assembly/refurbishment and offshore operations as needed. Identifies root cause of problems and documents appropriately. Develops and communicates alternative solutions and associated benefits and risks.

·         Provides disposition for Quality Notifications and Service Notifications.

·         Leads Root Cause Analysis for major Non-conformances.

·         Consults with other departments on equipment designs and questions. Identifies root cause of problems. Develops alternative solutions and communicates associated benefits and risks.

·         Prepares reports on engineering project assignments.



·         Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.

·         Generally 5+ years of experience in field or workshop environment.

·         Solid understanding of policies and procedures that apply to assignments.

·         Detailed knowledge of at least one TechnipFMC or related product line and general knowledge of several lines. Some knowledge of systems. Basic knowledge of competing and alternative technologies.

·         Strong understanding of machining and manufacturing processes. Technical experience preferred.

·         General understanding of internal economic factors (cost, margins, profit impact of decisions) affecting assignment areas.

·         Possess thorough knowledge of BOM structures.

·         Understands and applies industry code requirements, quality requirements, and customer requirements.

·         Understands and interprets system, field and detailed schematics.

·         Understands the subsea environment with respect to materials, corrosion (pitting, HISC, galvanic etc.), calcareous deposits and marine growth.

·         Understands different coating and surface treatment applications.

·         Ability to provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements.

·         Ability to train others in the application of engineering practices as related to area of specialty/product, including code and criteria requirements.

·         Good understanding of the components of assigned department and project priorities related to the work being performed.

·         Strong computer proficiency with applicable software applications as well as PC skills.

·         Ability to establish deadlines for self and manage priorities.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·         Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and coaching, and respond appropriately.

·         Able to clearly communicate ideas, concepts and customer requirements with ability to persuade and influence others as needed.

·         Embodies a customer-oriented attitude.

·         Demonstrates capability for conceptualizing designs.

·         Shows evidence of good organization and time management skills.

·         Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high volume and fast paced environment.

·         Extensive SAP system understanding in manufacturing.

·         Takes required FMC training courses as outlined in the Department's Training Plan



Office environment, with frequent exposure to Workshop Environment. Possible exposure to hazards such as noise, heavy equipment, temperature extremes, high pressure chemicals, etc. while working in Engineering laboratory, assembly areas and field service applications. Fast paced environment with repetitive transactions. Multiple priorities and constant change. 



Spends 60% of time sitting and operating a computer or workstation. Spends 40% of time lifting, pushing, and walking. Some climbing.
