PURPOSE:
The function of this position is to support Surface purchasing activities.
The key elements of this position will include:
Knowledge in Planning and understanding of MRP (SAP) demands
Direct responsible for purchase of direct parts
Understanding of procedures / processes, specification and Incoterms
Identifies and realizes cost savings opportunities
Manage Price Variance versus budget, standard and last purchase
Develops supplier relationships and track performance
Collaborate with Global Sourcing & Procurement (GSP) Category Managers
Support operational effectiveness
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Have worked in a manufacturing environment
3 - 5 years purchasing/materials management experience with a minimum of 3 years in purchasing
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing
Must demonstrate strong negotiation, planning and interpersonal skills in order to interact with co-workers and suppliers in a team-oriented environment.
Excellent negotiating skills and interpersonal skills.
Good written and verbal communications.
Microsoft PC skills required and versatile in handing data
Understand Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)
Have experience in SAP will be an advantage
Proactive & willing to learn
Willing to accept role rotation within Materials Management as and when needed.
Willing to perform overtime as and when needed
Duties and Responsibilities:
Execution of purchasing activities.
Reviews and improves purchasing processes
Manages supplier relationships.
Performs RFQ (Request For Quote) evaluation.
Ensure adherence to principles, policies and standards to improve safety, quality and process reliability in a cost-effective manner.
Facilitates communications, problem resolution and provides appropriate feedback, both positive and corrective within the team.
Identifies and realizes cost savings opportunities to achieve yearly cost reduction targets.
Work with purchasing team to meet positive PPV (purchasing price variance).
Develop supplier delivery performance and manage suppliers’ capacity constraints.
Collaborate with global sourcing management team for successful execution of purchasing activities.
