Job Description:


The Principal Mechanical / Project engineer shall work within the Facilities Engineering Team, interfacing with the wider Genesis organisation both locally and globally. They shall provide mechanical technical inputs and project engineering on a variety of front end studies and bespoke operations support/troubleshooting for clients in the UK and overseas.


The position requires a self-starter who can flexibly manage and deliver on multiple priorities. A high level of commitment is required together with a willingness to take responsibility and take on new challenges. Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensure high quality mechanical reports, specifications, calculations and deliverables in accordance with industry, Client and Genesis standards.
  • Manage multi-discipline design teams in the delivery of front end project studies.
  • Collaborate with client personnel and Genesis engineering specialists;
  • Monitor and manage delivery on projects and studies and assist in preparing management reports.
  • Deliver continuous improvement and develop best practices, work processes and tools incorporating lessons learned.
  • Prepare clear and concise study reports and presentations;
  • Lead project meetings and provide technical reports.
  • Participate in design, construction, HAZID/HAZOP reviews and technical impact assessments / reviews.
  • Develop cost effective technical solutions using latest industry design criteria and best practice.
  • Interface with and provide technical guidance for activities by third party engineering consultants and contractors as required.
  • Develop high quality proposals and bid submissions in support to responses to Client enquiries.

Typical background and experience required:


Must have:

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification to degree level (Minimum 2:1)
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Previous mechanical engineering experience.
  • Exposure to and understanding of oil and gas Operator value drivers and Capital Value Processes
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant international standards, Client and project specific standards.
  • Effective communicator both verbally and written.
  • Previous experience of working as part of and leading a multi-discipline team on facilities engineering studies / projects.
  • Able to work independently and within integrated local and virtual teams
  • Proven experience in developing solutions for greenfield and brownfield project environments, incorporating installation and constructability assessments.
  • Competence in supporting the development of cost and schedule estimates.
  • Current offshore survival and medical certificates
  • Flexibility for adhoc travel both within UK and abroad
