The SAP Global Process Owner (GPO) is responsible for the end to end process within their functional area. The GPO leads and facilitates the business process community to ensure the needs of the business are being identified, evaluated, prioritized within the process community with appropriate stakeholders, and that it is being delivered according to the Key Performance Indicators specified in Service Level Agreements.


The GPO owns the design of the end-to-end process(es), management of related service delivery (execution) inclusive of continuous improvement, and oversight of enabling technology decisions. The position is responsible for strategy formulation and prioritization of all related initiatives and decisions regarding people, process, and technology.  The GPO provides expertise, and enables the organization to have the needed expertise for their specific process.


The GPO is the top authority for this process within SAP.  This individual provides functional leadership for all operators within this process within SAP and ensures that a continuous improvement process is in place, as well as is always in tune with the market and innovations related to this process.  Although the GPO may or may not have the process operators under their direct reporting line, he/she is responsible for ensuring consistency in the delivery of key performance indicators and is the ultimate authority and expert as it relates to this specific process.




·         Identify process stakeholders (understand cross functional / process area impacts)

·         Understand all process output requirements to all customers

·         Implement process design in system

·         Document system assumptions

·         Develop training

·         Manage related SRQs

·         Develop [non-master data] roles (anything not governing master data) for process owned

·         Govern system authorizations over [non-master data] roles being assigned that impact

process (Trustees)

·         Provides input to Financial Standards (GPS)

·         Write, publish and maintain process-related Wiki's

·         Provide a variety of training materials

·         Execute training globally, routinely

·         Promotes automation (where it makes sense) and standardization - employ best practice approach

·         Change Management within Process

·         Identify key controls within process

·         Takes into account global and local requirements

·         Develops test scripts for processes owned and implements in testing tool

·         Self-Measurement (O&M) - develop KPI's




Qualifications (Educational/Professional):


·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting required, or 8 years of equivalent experience in various aspects of financial reporting, including elements of internal managerial financial reporting.


·         Proven business acumen in global operations and specific process areas

·         Proven experience in managing senior stakeholders and leading multi-functional teams



·         Minimum 5 years process related experience and functional understanding of operations from corporate, regional, and local perspective working with ERP systems.  Highly knowledgeable about intercompany processes including financial statement reporting requirements related to intercompany transactions, both locally and on a consolidated basis.

·         Successful work experience requiring customer focus and successful service delivery.  

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationships, leadership and management principles and decision-making abilities. Ability to balance priorities and competing demands.

·         Self-directed with demonstrated leadership skills.

·         Demonstrated ability to train, teach, or coach business professionals

·         Solid experience with systems, interfaces, and integrations, which facilitate centralized administration of processes

·         Ability to work in a complex global matrix environment with a mix of functional, business, and geographic leaders. Zero defect and prevention mindset.



·         The GPO will participate in a cross-functional global business governance team and drive towards global process ownership alignment and execution.
