Are you our new Subsea Drilling Services Engineering Manager in TechnipFMC, Kuala Lumpur?


This position is responsible for the execution of technical project work in the regional service area. The purpose of this position to have a single individual responsible for all aspects of the local SDS scope in the service area.


Reports to: SDS Business Unit Manager

  • Responsible for the local SDS engineering budget. This includes establishing the forecasted utilization based on the Basis for Planning and translating that into the annual spend based on the engineering rate and the headcount
  • Responsible for maintaining the YTD spending and forecast and providing monthly update to the Business Unit Manager and Technical Director
  • Primary SDS technical expert in the local area
  • Responsible for organizing, delegating, and maintaining progress of all engineering work in the local service center
  • Responsible for providing technical guidance to all SDS engineers in the local service center
  • Engages with technical resources within customers’ organizations
  • Provides support and guidance to offshore operations as needed
  • Attends customer meetings and acts as company’s technical expert with field failures
  • Engages with SDS global management team as active member of SDS technology organization
  • Engages with direct reports to identify career ambitions and creates develops plans to make those ambitions possible
  • Regularly holds performance review meetings with direct reports to provide feedback on performance
  • Responsible for executing annual performance reviews of all direct reports
  • Adheres to all relevant work instructions
  • Uses independent judgment consistently
  • Clearly demonstrates creativity and innovation in finding solutions and alternatives
  • Develops unique solutions for complex technical problems through the application of technology
  • Expected to travel internationally on an as needed basis to collaborate with regional businesses and customers
  • To adhere company HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental) policy, rules & regulations
  • To integrate HSE as part of the job function

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) with at least 10 years of experience
  • Preference to have advanced knowledge of TechnipFMC’s subsea wellhead systems including equipment, tooling, and ancillary components
  • Basic knowledge of statics and mechanics of materials
  • Basic knowledge of materials and their application to mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to identify efficient solutions
  • Comfort with addressing nebulous problems and developing creative solutions
  • Skilled at written communication via email
  • Skilled at oral communication
  • Strong critical reading skills
  • Skilled at delegating work and maintaining visibility of multiple tasks
  • Ability and desire to work on a team
  • Skilled at maintaining progress on multiple concurrent tasks
  • Ability and desire to give presentations in public forums
