SDS Product Engineer (Drilling Products)

Looking for a design engineer to join the EMS Drilling Products Group. This is a small group of 10-12 highly skilled and motivated engineers in charge of design, testing, and improvement projects for the global subsea wellhead product line and its associated tooling. 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Creates designs, drawings, part reports, specifications, etc. involving existing and new technology in relation to subsea wellhead equipment and tooling.
• Independently develops solutions to recurring problems. Consults with regional wellhead teams and other departments on equipment designs and questions. Anticipates potential problems and identifies root causes. Develops solutions and communicates associated benefits and risks.
• Regularly assigned ownership of design projects.
• Tests and evaluates prototypes and products to determine design limits and needed improvements. Testing may include working odd hours such as weekends or nights.
• Works with Global Engineering Centers to analyze and implement updates to maintain the standard wellhead product line offering.
• Assists and checks the work of drafters, designers, and fellow engineers.
• Participates in planning and scheduling projects.
• Participates in product standardization projects.
• Opportunities to travel globally.

REQUIREMENTS:
• BS Degree in Engineering. Two to five years relevant experience in specialized area or product line(s). Previous drilling related experience preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of subsea wellhead product line is ideal for the role. Other drilling experience like drill-bit, wire-line, liner hanger, or surface wellhead knowledge would also be beneficial.
• Demonstrated ability to independently create functional & cost-effective designs that meet complex specification requirements. Regularly demonstrates capability for conceptualizing designs.
• Strong understanding of machining and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) methods, when to apply FEA, and ability to interpret results. FEA experience preferred, but not required.
• Experience and ability to work with Mathcad software.
• Possess thorough knowledge of BOM structures, experience with TCE preferred.
• Experience with modeling software such as AutoCAD, Unigraphics, or Microstation.
