Subsea Services Machining Manager

We are looking for an experienced Materials Coordinator who will help manage vendor contracts and commercial agreements as well as control the flow of all inventory and third-party services required for product delivery

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The USA Service Center Services Machining Manager position is responsible for execution of services performed at Gremp Campus within the designated machine shop located within S15.  This role covers a broad spectrum of activity and is based on physical location within the campus.  The primary use of machining centers on campus includes but is not limited to TechnipFMC equipment.  Services machining is required to enable equipment refurbishment in timely manner.  In addition to services machining responsibility, the expectation is this role collaborate with other business units to leverage the full capacity of the machining centers.  Other business units could include Surface, Subsea, Projects, On/Off and drilling systems.   Additionally, this role is responsible for the coordination and execution of ALL services machining activities required for any refurbishment activity within S05, S07 and S11 to include services that may need to be outsourced.  Other types of activities that fall within the remit of this organization include Nondestructive Examination (NDE) testing and welding (Excluding Subsea Drilling Systems welding located with S11).

 

She/he must be proactive in the optimization of HSE at Gremp Campus while ensuring that all work is in contractual compliance with corporate and local authorities

·         Leads and coordinates the functioning and management of this group and is responsible for the effectiveness of this team in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost and profitability

·         Develops the business strategy to maximize capacity within the services machining operations

·         Oversees other managers and individual contributors to ensure goals are met

·         Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation within services machining

·         Works closely with Quality personnel to review product/process consistency while monitoring performance to determine trends and areas of improvement

·         Review established schedules to insure the Machining Workshop operate at the highest efficiency possible

·         Monitors operation expenses and researches ways to reduce costs while maintaining productivity

·         Works closely with the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to ensure all members of the manufacturing team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees.

·         Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication initiatives

·         Analyzes workforce requirements

·         Encourages and promotes operating in a continuous improvement environment.

·         Remove production constraints; allocates human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals

·         Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity

·         Work with Purchasing manager to develop and improve supplier relationship

 

 

 

POSITION DUTIES:

Management/HR

·         Typical management duties such as time approval, PTO approval, P-card approval, performance evaluations for direct and indirect reports and implementing recognition programs

·         Partnering with the shared services organizations (HR, Supply chain, Technical Services, Quality, HSE, Finance etc.) within the USA to ensure compliance to established policies.

·         Required to perform succession planning and top grading semi-annually (at a minimum).

·         Conducts salary planning and personnel performance evaluations and discussions.

 

Financial

·         Responsible for the development and maintenance of metrics that portray financial health for the operational areas of responsibility.  Furthermore, taking discrete actions to improve shall be executed monthly at a minimum

o    To include cost center management

o    Cost of non-quality events

·         Partners with cost accounting to understand internal cost rates and takes appropriate actions to staff the organization with the most cost effective solution while maintaining the appropriate level of competency to ensure operational efficiency.

·         Identifies, develops, and presents capital investments to sustain and grow functional areas of management.

·         Develops and monitors the detailed and consolidated cost center financial budgets and forecasts.

·         Manages resource allocation and utilization for direct and indirect reports.

 

QHSE

·         Required to report QHSE metrics to regional leadership to include but not limited to QHSE leading and lagging indicators defined by the region.

·         Partners with regional HSE and Quality managers to ensure adherence to local and regional requirements.

 

Operational

·         Serves as the primary point of contact for all machining operations.

·         Builds and maintains relationships with customers, suppliers and across functional areas associated with project execution within the Subsea Services business sector.

·         Focuses on implementing tactical programs aimed at understanding TechnipFMC strategic vision/goals within the operations organization.

·         Collaboratively works with Planning and Customer Services teams to achieve customer success.

·         Trains, develops and provides mentorship to direct reports to take on added responsibility that supports their career development.

·         Resolves conflicts across functional areas of management.

·         Provides regular assessment, mentoring and development of personnel resources.

·         Develops and manages competency plans for subordinates; ensures competency meets or exceeds requirements for support of Operations Organization.

·         Actively participates in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for the Operations Organization.

·         Identifies and recognizes individuals within the organization who exhibit service business mentality.  Pro-actively addresses resources who do not exhibit service business mentality.

·         High level of focus on overall quality of services provided by Subsea Services.

·         Clearly communicates business critical events to Operations Leadership.

·         Prepares and presents technical data to internal and external customers.

·         Develops solutions to problems by analyzing, interpreting and evaluating data.  Anticipates potential problem and identifies and proposes required preventive actions.

·         Promotes an environment where people feel comfortable sharing ideas and encourages teamwork to maximize efficiency and productivity.

·         Interviews and recruits for entry level and experienced positions for the department.

·         Develops strategies to address Key Business Objectives; constructs action plans and key performance metrics.

·         Evaluates forecasts to determine resource and capacity requirements in support of the Subsea Services’ Sales and Operations Planning process.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·         Bachelor’s degree in leadership discipline or equivalent is preferred.  Documented practical experience with an excellent track record, both operationally and contractually can compensate for a lack of formal education.

·         Accumulative 10 years of oil and gas operations and/or manufacturing experience. 

·         Accumulative 5 years of proven leadership experience with direct responsibility of team(s); i.e. leading other managers.

·         Accumulative 3 years of experience in cost center management/fiscal responsibility.  Preferred P/L management.

·         Has proven strengths in diverse and multi-cultural environments.  Must have the ability to adapt.

·         Must have proven communications skills with the ability to tailor messaging to multiple types of audiences to include internal and external clients, technicians, services leadership and executives.  Communication in this context includes but is not limited to verbal, presentation, digital, and body language.

·         Proven record of proactively engaging with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) initiatives and quality (Q) initiatives.

o    Must provide evidence of QHSE initiatives and the resulting business impact(s)

o    Proven history of leadership engagement during execution activities with field personnel

  • Strong ability to persuade and influence others.
  • Possesses a service oriented business mentality and models this behavior.
  • Leads, manages and motivates direct reports with a focus on training, reward and recognition, coaching, employee career development, evaluation and appraisal.  Manages poor performance issues decisively and timely. 

 

Knowledge/Skills Requirements

·         Comprehensive understanding of subsea production systems (SPS) to include but not limited to XT systems, intervention systems, control systems, and subsea infrastructure with general awareness of SURF (Subsea Umbilical’s, Risers, and Flowlines) systems.

·         Proven history of measuring department health through metrics and KPI’s.  Has keen understanding of what to measure and how to drive results for the business.

·         Proven ability to set strategic objectives as well as managing organizational objectives

·         General awareness of standards and regulations such as API, CFR, EPA and can apply to given areas as needed.  Specific standards and regulations may vary depending on assignment location.

·         Ability to adopt, embrace, and apply IT systems such as SAP, MES, MS office and other systems to efficiently perform tasks

·         Proven ability to forecast activity demand profile and correlate to resource requirements in multiple dimensions to include but not limited to competency, scheduling, multinational logistics, and project economics

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

·         70% office environment and 30% in shop environment.  Periodic travel required.

·         Frequent sitting and operating a computer.  Frequent walking and standing while visiting the shop.

·         Monthly reequipment to be onsite during second shift operations (As applicable)
